ESP team, please add to the questions:
- What will be the typical length of deployment for the Gen 3 instrument (G3)?
- What is the overall energy budget?
- Do we need our own power source or use the AUV?
- What size will the G3 be designed for? LRAUV size, El Dorado size, or something else?
- Maximum Depth
- Maximum Sampling Depth?
- What is the main function of the G3 instrument? Front end water processing, creating a lysate for back-end analysis? Or will the G3 do more than that? What?
- If simply water processing:
- how much water will be filtered?
- What will be the filtering system? pucks? modified pucks? scintered frits? something else?
- what lysate volume do you want to create?
- Will archival be necessary?
- If G3 runs assays, how many assays/tests will it be running? Frequency?
- Reusable assay's?
- How will decon occur?
LRAUV Payload Specs:
- 300m design depth
- Typical payload size: ~11.5" dia, 12" long
- Maximum payload size ~11.5" dia, 24" long
- Must be neutrally bouyant
- Must include presure housings and buoyancy (if needed)
- AUV power may be used, with reduced range/duration.
Software questions:
- What will be the information (commands) required from the AUV? For example, will the samples be fired by geolocation, by data from ancillary sensors, by time, etc.? Depending on how the ESP is to conduct it's mission, it may need changes to AUV payload (contextual sensors, specific commands where the AUV can tell the ESP to fire, etc.).
